The AMR Challenge, New York

The success of The Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Challenge – a yearlong effort by the US CDC to garner formal commitments to tackle the problem of AMR by governments, private companies and non-governmental organisations – was celebrated at an unofficial side event at the UN General Assembly on 23rd September (3 days ago). The initiative itself was launched at the United Nations General Assembly in last September (available on YouTube).

Highlights of the celebratory event this year can be viewed here (registration via email required).

We were very fortunate to have had the opportunity to showcase our comic “The Antibiotic Tales” (preorders can be made here!) during this event as well, courtesy of the Drug-Resistant Infections team of the Wellcome Trust. The other AMR comic featured was the limited series Surgeon X by Sara Kenney, John Watkiss and Karen Berger.

Photos of the event are shown below, courtesy of the Wellcome team.
