I managed to attend part of this very well attended symposium which was held on 13th July at University Town. It was organized by my Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health colleague Dr. Vincent Pang and his CIDER team, along with the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA). There were prominent speakers from local as well as international institutions. The plenary lecture was delivered by Prof Dirk Pfeiffer from the City University of Hong Kong.

A great quote from a fellow attendee: “One take back from the seminar for me was that be it science or policy, we should challenge ourselves to have a holistic approach, rather than a reductionist approach when we all have individual goals and try to “align” them.”

Opening address by the guest of honour, Rear-Admiral Kong Choong TANG, Chief of Medical Corps, Ministry of Defence.

Plenary lecture by Prof Pfeiffer.

Had not realized that Singapore’s fish was imported from so many different countries.
